P = Personal šŸ’šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø

This email is coming to you from Bali!! We've never been before, and so far it's been lots of fun! It's been a BIG year of life changes and a lot of hard work/late nights, so we're soooo ready for a little bit of downtime!

O = On the 'gram šŸ“²

In case you missed it, here's some of what's been popular over on Instagram lately.

Most kids have never been properly bored. Not once!!

I said on national TV that kids don't need more screens at school, which probably surprises people coming from someone who co-founded a digital teaching platform. But I meant it.

However, it isn't just the screens.

It's that we've deleted every gap kids used to have to sit with. The car trip. The queue at the shops. That half hour before dinner. Every one of those used to be empty, and now every one of them is filled.

But that restless itch of having nothing to do is the whole point, because it's what makes a kid look up and look around!

There's a new picture book that absolutely nails this dilemma. Jen-Jen loses the device she stares at all day and panics... but then she starts actually looking at the ocean around her and something truly magical happens.

Sea of Wonder by Kasey Rainbow is out now!!

E = Education Tip šŸ’”

Did you know that one of my very first classrooms was an Under the Sea theme, and oh my word, I went to towwwwwn with it. Matching everything. My blog post about that room is STILL one of the most visited pages on our entire website!

It was also WAYYYY too much.

Busy walls compete with busy brains. The students who are still learning to filter out distraction are the ones who feel that first, and they're the ones who can least afford to be spending effort on it.

A calm classroom isn't a bare one. It's a purposeful one.

It's always been on my list to someday create my own ocean-themed classroom decor. A collection that applied all my learnings about what classroom decor should (and shouldn't) be. Something that felt soft, cohesive and calm without adding visual noise to classroom walls.

Enter Kasey Rainbow's new book, and it felt like the perfect time to do exactly that!

R = Resource Spotlight šŸ”¦

Which is exactly why our brand new Sea of Wonder Collection looks the way it does!

Soft pastel blues, greens, pinks and purples, with exclusive Sea of Wonder characters. The colours are deliberately gentle so they sit in the background instead of competing with the learning. With clear layouts, accessible fonts and cohesive colours throughout, this collection is designed to support a calm, focused learning space.

And every design comes both with and without the Kutopia characters, so in the spots where you want the absolute essentials and nothing else, you can strip it right back.

And yes, there are freebies in there to try first. Door displays, welcome signs, first day signs, book box labels, welcome bunting headers and more.
