Hi Reader,

Today is a big day inside The Hive!

After almost a year of work behind the scenes, we’ve just released the biggest Hive update we’ve ever made.

Revamped Slides Editor

The slides editor and dashboard have been completely rebuilt from the ground up -bringing together the best parts of PowerPoint, Google Slides and Canva into one system designed specifically for teachers.

You’ll now notice things like:

  • Hive learning tools working directly inside your slides
  • faster slide creation with templates and duplication
  • intuitive, more flexible editing
  • new ways to present ideas (tables, improved lists, sticky notes, mind-mapping arrows and more)
  • a cleaner, smarter dashboard experience

In short: everything should feel faster, simpler and more connected.

A couple of quick things to know as you start exploring:

  1. Your existing slides have already been converted
We’ve moved your existing slide decks into the new editor for you. In some cases a few elements may have shifted slightly, so it’s worth giving important lessons a quick glance before teaching.
  2. There’s help documentation if you need it
We’ve created extensive step-by-step help guides with screenshots to walk you through the new features if you get stuck.
  3. Let us know how you find it!
We'd love to hear how you settle in with the new editor - let us know, please! The good, the bad, and (hopefully the very uncommon) ugly. We'll be jumping on any niggles quickly this week!

So, are you ready to see the new Hive? You can watch all about the update here:

Teach Mode

You use The Hive for two things:

  1. teaching in class
  2. preparing to teach in class.

We've made the two purposes clearer in this update by introducing Teach Mode.

It's really just the old Dashboard page reframed. But now it's more purposeful in its design, capability, and intent.

The other side of the coin is, well, everything else in The Hive. We simply group it under Prepare now. That could be planning, finding, and creating content and data for your class.

We’re incredibly proud of what Jez has built here, and we truly believe this update will make teaching with The Hive even smoother and more powerful.

So jump in, have a play, and let us know what you think.

We can’t wait to hear how you use it.

Tam and Jez
